WHAT IS SB2?

SB2, also referred
to by its statutory title "RSA 40:13" is a great liberator and
a superb neutralizer. It has helped to restore the balance of
power to the people where our nation's founding fathers said it would be
most safely dispersed.
Was it necessary to restore the people's power? Yes! Because the power which our founding fathers had rested in the whole people had been usurped by powerful special interest groups such as "pseudo-government" professional organizations and public labor unions. Overtime, these well funded organizations came to hold an undue influence over New Hampshire government at all levels, local, county and state. For example, at the local government level voters had become discouraged and beaten down by the special interest who would show up in numbers to control the Town Meeting. Under represented residents began to feel as though their voice was no longer heard, that their vote did not count; they became disfranchised. To avoid abuse by the special interest they began to stay away from Town and School District meetings. These voters literally lost control over their wallets to mob rule, a form of government our nation's founding fathers abhorred. |
| Then along came SB2
thanks to the efforts of groups like the Granite State Taxpayers who
worked tirelessly for several years to finally garner enough strength
and respectability to assert their own influence upon the
legislature. They worked diligently to get enabling legislation
passed to restore power back to the people taking it away from the
special interest.. Now, instead of 50 or 100 residents turning out at
Town and School District meetings to speak for an entire electorate, all
voters can exercise their voice individually, without fear of
harassment, in the privacy of a voting booth. Their voice at last
restored!
But, remember this great freedom can be lost much more easily than it was regained! For, in a word, freedom isn't free; it must be maintained by an informed and diligent electorate. There will always be those greedy, and powerful special interest looking to restore themselves to power and to enlarge their well being at the expense of the unsuspecting taxpayer! Do not allow SB2 to ever be taken from you again. Beware of any public official, pseudo-government special interest organization or movement to attempt its repeal Town Meeting mobocracy has worked very well for the special interest. But now, SB2 has leveled the playing field. |
